What do the New and Updated labels on my matches mean?

What do the New and Updated labels on my matches mean?

Once your team is connected to a league calendar, Mingle Sport keeps checking it and applies whatever the league changes. The labels are how it tells you something happened, so nobody has to compare the schedule against the league's website.

There are four, and they split into two kinds.

New and Updated are there for awareness, and everyone on the team sees them. New appears when a sync creates a match. Updated appears when the league changes something on a match you already had — a kick-off time, a location, the opponent, or a cancellation — and it shows you the old value alongside the new one, so a match moved to 10:15 tells you it was 13:00.

Needs attention and Sync issue are different: they are asking someone to do something, and only schedulers and team admins see them. More on both below.

A match only ever carries one label. When more than one could apply, the most urgent wins, in this order: Sync issue, then Needs attention, then Updated, then New.

Note: New and Updated fade on their own after about 72 hours without further changes. A fresh change restarts the clock. They also disappear once the match has been played, or if you disconnect the calendar.

Why can't my players see the same labels I do?

This is deliberate. A player opening a synced match sees a completely normal match, with no label on it, even when you can see Needs attention on the same match.

The reason is that the things a player cares about are already right. The date, the time and whether you are home or away all come straight from the league, and they are correct whether or not an admin has tidied anything up. What Needs attention flags is usually a label problem — an opponent name that needs confirming — and asking twenty parents to worry about that would create noise without helping anyone.

Sync history is gated the same way, to schedulers and admins.

Where can I see what changed?

Open the match and look for Sync history. It keeps a permanent record of everything that has happened to that match, with entries such as Added from league calendar, Kick-off change, Updated from league calendar, Couldn't reach league calendar and Sync Resumed. Each change keeps the old value next to the new one, so you can see what it was before.

At the bottom you will find Source calendar entry, which shows what your league's calendar says about this match right now — not what it said when the match was first imported. That is the thing to check when a match looks wrong and you want to know whether the problem is at our end or the league's.

There is also a Sync Now button if you would rather not wait for the next automatic check.

The opponent on a synced match is wrong. How do I fix it?

When sync isn't certain it matched an opponent correctly, it still creates the match and marks it Needs attention rather than blocking anything. Open the match and you will see a short question — either *"[club] – right club?"* when it matched an existing club, or *"[club] – new club?"* when it created one from the calendar name — with the raw text from the calendar so you can judge it.

Answer Yes, that's right to confirm it, or Edit Opponent to pick the right one.

Either way you will then be asked Apply this from now on?, explaining that every sync with that calendar name will use your version automatically. Choose Save Rule and you have fixed it permanently: every match already imported under that name is corrected, and every future sync uses your answer. You only ever answer this once per opponent.

Note: On a synced match the date, time and home or away are locked, because the league owns them. The opponent is not — that one is always yours to correct.

What does Sync issue mean?

Sync issue is about the connection rather than the match. It appears when we have not been able to reach your league calendar for about three days, and you will see We can't reach your league calendar, or not syncing with the time of the last successful update.

The usual causes are a link that has expired — they often do between seasons — or an outage at the provider's end. Open Manage iCal sync in your team settings to check the connection, and if the link has expired, fetch a fresh one from your league and reconnect. The label clears by itself as soon as a sync succeeds.

Your matches are not affected while this is happening. They stay exactly as they were at the last successful sync; they just stop updating until the connection is back.
