What's the difference between a managed and an independent team?
In Mingle Sport, every team that belongs to a club has a club relation that is either Managed or Independent. This tells the club which teams it officially runs, and it decides which club-wide features apply to a team.
A managed team is one the club is responsible for — a regular team in the club that the club actively runs. A club's cross-team tools apply to its managed teams. An independent team is linked to the club but not run by it: alumni sides, fan teams, ad-hoc training groups, or a team that ended up attached to the club by mistake.

Managed status is admin-side for now. Coaches and players don't see a managed or independent marker on their team — the relation is only visible and editable to club admins in Club Manager.
What can a club do with a managed team?
A managed team is included in the club's cross-team tools — the features that apply to teams the club is responsible for. The club schedule shows managed teams only, and club leaderboards, stats, and sponsoring apply to them too.
Club chat and announcements are the exception: they're available to both managed and independent teams, so any team linked to the club can still be reached through club communication. Independent teams are the ones left out of the club's scheduling and reporting tools, which keeps alumni sides, fan teams, and ad-hoc groups out of club-wide reporting they shouldn't be part of.
How is a team's club relation decided?
A team's relation is set in one of a few ways, depending on how the team was created and whether the club pays for it:
Club-boosted teams are automatically managed. If the club boosts a team from its own plan (Elevate or Performance), that team becomes managed automatically, and the relation is locked.
Teams created in Club Manager default to managed. When a club admin creates a team through Club Manager's Create team flow, it starts as managed. You can set it to independent at creation if needed.
Teams created in the app default to independent. A team set up through app onboarding starts as independent until a club admin changes it.
Only teams that belong to a real club can be managed. A team that isn't part of a club stays independent and can't be set to managed.
How do I change a team from independent to managed (or back)?
You change a team's club relation in Club Manager, and only a club owner or club admin can do it. Team admins and coaches can't change it.
Sign in to club.mingle.sport and open Team Management.
Find the team in the list. The Club relation column shows whether it's Managed or Independent.
Select the Managed / Independent chip on that team's row.
Confirm the change.
The team's relation updates straight away, and the club-wide features follow the new status. You can switch a team back the same way.
This works for basic teams only. Club-boosted teams are managed and locked, and teams a coach has boosted individually are locked too — the club can't change either of those.
