How do I set permissions for my team members?
How do I set permissions for my team members?
Permissions in Mingle Sport control what each team member is allowed to do — from adding match photos to creating events and running the scoreboard. They're separate from team roles (player, staff, team support), which describe who someone is in the team.
Only Team Admins can change permissions. On a free team everyone runs with the defaults; on a boosted team (Level 1 or higher) admins can customise permissions per member. See How do I change my role in the team? for how team roles work.
What permissions are there?
Mingle Sport has four permission levels. Three can be granted to individual members (Content, Scheduling, Scorekeeping); the fourth (Admin) is its own category.
| Permission | What it allows |
|---|---|
Admin | Edit team info (name, logo, abbreviation), manage members and their roles, add and remove other admins, set per-member permissions (Level 1+), and remove the team. Admins implicitly have all other permissions. |
Content | Add photos and videos to a match. Start Live Mode (formerly Liveblog) to share updates with followers. |
Scheduling | Create, edit, and delete matches, training sessions, and custom events. Edit attendance and RSVP for other team members. |
Scorekeeping | Manage the line-up and substitutions, run the match timer, and log goals, assists, and cards. Scorekeeping automatically includes Content rights — together they make the Match Reporter capability (add commentary, edit tags, connect media to events). |
What are the default permissions?
| Free team (Level 0) | Boosted team (Level 1+) | |
|---|---|---|
Admin | Exactly 1 — the team creator | Unlimited — existing admins can promote others |
Other members | Content only | Content only (same default), but admins can grant Scheduling and Scorekeeping per member |
Per-member editing | Not available | Available — admins toggle permissions per member |
Admin transfer | Not possible — the team creator stays admin | Admins can promote others and step down (as long as at least one admin remains) |
When a team levels down (Team Boost expires), all custom permissions revert to these defaults. If the team is re-boosted later, the previous permission settings are remembered and re-applied.
How do I change permissions after boosting?
Custom per-member permissions require Team Boost Level 1. Once your team is boosted:
In the Mingle Sport app:
Open your team and tap Settings.
Go to Permissions.
Pick a permission category (Content, Scheduling, or Scorekeeping).
Select or deselect team members for that permission.
Save your changes.
On Homebase (web):
Sign in to homebase.mingle.sport and open your team.
Go to Members and find the member you want to update.
Click the more button (…) next to their name and select Edit Permissions.
Toggle Content, Scheduling, or Scorekeeping on or off.
Save.
The member receives a notification when their permissions are updated.
What can a Team Admin do?
The Team Admin role gives full control over the team. Admins can:
Edit team information — change the team name, logo, and abbreviation.
Manage members — remove members and change anyone's team role (player, staff, or team support).
Add and remove other admins — available on boosted teams (Level 1+). On a free team only the team creator is admin.
Set per-member permissions — turn Content, Scheduling, and Scorekeeping on or off for individual members (Level 1+).
Remove the team entirely.
Admins implicitly have all permissions — Scheduling, Scorekeeping, and Content are always active for every admin.
How do I add another admin?
Adding extra admins requires Team Boost Level 1. On a free team (Level 0) there is exactly one admin — the person who created the team — and that cannot be changed.
On a boosted team, any existing admin can promote another member to admin from the member's profile. The new admin immediately gains all permissions.
What happens if the last Team Admin leaves?
The system requires at least one admin per team, so the last admin is blocked from leaving or deleting the team. If the last admin's Mingle Sport account is deleted (for example by support), every remaining team member is automatically promoted to admin as a safety net. From there the team can decide who should keep admin rights.
The same recovery applies if a team levels down and no admin remains among the active members.
