How do I manage chat for my club?

How do I manage chat for my club?

If you're a club owner or club admin, you manage your club's chat from Club Manager on the web (club.mingle.sport), under Chat Settings. Club chat lets you reach everyone in your club without using WhatsApp or sharing personal phone numbers.

There are two kinds of club chat:

  • The Official Club Group — one announcement channel for the whole club.

  • Custom club groups — smaller groups you create for parts of the club.

This is separate from each team's own team chat, which every team has automatically. For how team chat works for members, see Is there a chat feature for our team?.

What is the Official Club Group?

The Official Club Group is a single chat that every club gets automatically, with all club members in it. It's announcement-only: only the club owner and admins can post, and everyone else can react and like. Its membership syncs automatically as people join or leave teams in the club, so you never have to add or remove members by hand.

Posting in the Official Club Group happens in Club Manager on the web. On the mobile app, members can read and react to announcements, but the message input is hidden — so the group stays a clean, one-way channel for club news.

For privacy, the Official Club Group shows a member count (for example "Members: 25") rather than listing everyone by name.

You can turn the Official Club Group on or off from Chat Settings in Club Manager.

How do I create a custom club group?

Custom club groups are for specific parts of your club — for example *Youth Staff*, *U9–U12 Parents*, or *Senior Coaches*.

  1. Sign in to club.mingle.sport and go to CommunicationChat.

  2. Click Create new Chat.

  3. Pick the members using Club Contacts — you can search and filter by role or team.

  4. Set the group's posting options (see below) and create the group.

Who can post in club chat groups?

Each custom club group has three independent settings, which you control as the group's owner:

SettingDefaultWhat it does

Everyone can Post

Off

When off, only the owner and admins can post. When on, all members can post.

Allow Replies

Off

Lets members reply in threads.

Allow Likes

On

Lets members react to messages.

The person who creates a group is its owner and always has full posting and management rights. The owner can promote other members to Admin, which lets them post even in announcement-only groups. The Official Club Group follows the same model — owner and admins can always post, regardless of the toggles.

How do I moderate club chat?

As a club admin you can keep club chat tidy:

  • Delete any message in a club chat group.

  • Change a group's settings — its posting, reply, and like options.

  • Turn the Official Club Group on or off from Chat Settings in Club Manager.

You can also broadcast one message to several groups at once — see How do I send announcements to my club?.

All of this is managed from Club Manager. If you run into anything unexpected, contact us via the in-app chat or at [email protected].
