Mingle Sport is now live with New Zealand's official clubs and leagues
Every New Zealand club and league is now in Mingle Sport. When you set up a team, you pick your actual club and your actual competition from a list — no more typing the club name in by hand and hoping everyone spells it the same way.
It sounds like a small thing. It isn't. It is the difference between a team that exists in isolation and a team that sits where it belongs.
What changes for your team
Pick your club and your grade when you create a team, and everything downstream knows what it is. Opponents come from the same list, so when you play the club up the road, it is that club and not a slightly different spelling of it. Your team's results and stats accumulate against real fixtures rather than something improvised.
If you already run a team in Mingle Sport, nothing breaks and you do not have to start again. Open your team settings and connect it to your club and grade when you get a moment.
How this sits with Sporty
From 1 January 2026, New Zealand Football replaced COMET with Sporty as the national registration and competition management system, ahead of the 2026 season. It is free to all of the more than 400 clubs in the football system, covering over 176,000 players, and it handles club player registrations, member management, competition management, a website CMS, accounting integration, and the Game Day App — what many clubs know through MyFootball — for digital team sheets and live scoring.
That is a serious piece of infrastructure and it is the right place for all of it. Registrations, grading, fixtures, results, the official record of who played — that belongs with your federation, and we have no interest in duplicating it.
Mingle Sport is the layer underneath, where a team actually runs its week. Who is available on Saturday. Who starts. Who comes off and when. What the parents see on Sunday morning.
What Sporty is not built to do
A registration and competition system answers the club's questions and the federation's questions. It is not built to answer a coach's, and it does not pretend to be.
So it will not show you a player's minutes across a whole season, or whether your game time has been shared fairly over twelve rounds rather than one afternoon. It will not track a player's development across a year, or give parents somewhere to follow the team that is not a group chat with forty people in it.
That is the gap we fill, and it is why the two sit together comfortably. Your club stays on Sporty for everything official. Your team uses Mingle Sport for the week-to-week, and the two never fight over the same job.
